With a year round average temperature of around 15ºC, the Costa Blanca is
probably one of the perfect places to practice golf on the Mediterranean coast.
The courses on the Costa Blanca cater for all types of golfers, from novices to
experts who look for a constant challenge. Winter, Spring, Summer or Autumn is
always great to practice golf on the Costa Blanca and with a huge choice of
places to play, a course will always be close to you.
One of the newest additions to the list of courses is the La Finca in Algorfa,
just outside the historic town of Orihuela. This new golf course has many
features and currently has 18 holes although it will finish being a 54 hole
complex made up of 3 different golf courses. So if you are looking to play a
game or just look out on to some of the breathtaking scenery of a well
maintained and designed golf courses, there is no better place than the Costa
Blanca.
1 - LA FINCA (Algorfa)
This new 72 par golf course, set in the heart of the Vega Baja countryside, has
been completed by the prestigous developers of the Villa Martin and Las Ramblas
golf courses. Its situation, surrounded by orange groves and near the Guardamar
and La Marina beaches, make this course an excellent playing experience
2 - VILLAMARTÍN (Orihuela)
It's main advantage is the variety to be found on it's 18 holes due to the
excellent design. This will allow you to have truly enjoyable golf mainly
because you will have to use all 14 clubs on this incredibly well maintained and
looked after golfcourse.
3 - REAL CLUB DE GOLF DE CAMPOAMOR (Orihuela)
The circuit of this course is flexible enough for an amateur or professional.
It's long and wide range is suitable for all players, being it's main difficulty
on the greens and sloped areas.
4 - LAS RAMBLAS (Orihuela)
Situated between hills and the shores of the Mediterranean, next to a luxury
development, this course demands precision and concentration from all those who
play on it. The fairways are tricky mainly because they are narrow.
5 - LA MARQUESA (Rojales)
Located in a valley between 2 mountains. The course is characterized by it's
flatness and does not offer great difficulty. It's wide fairways with large
channels, lakes and obstacles will be to the taste of most players. It is an
extremely comfortable course to play on and will oblige you to use all the clubs
in your bag.
6 - LA MANGA GOLF CLUB (Los Belones)
La Manga is located in a valley surrounded by mountains and with stunning views
of the Mar Menor. Palm trees abound in these two courses, while the West course,
sited in a mountain was carved out of a pine forest. The Club offers an
excellent golf shop, caddies and one of the best practice areas to be found in
Spain, with 90 driving range bays, 3 putting greens, short game area and
practice bunker.
7 - EL PLANTÍO (Elche)
El Plantío, is a par 3 course. It is both interesting and fun to play on, being
a filled with trees and 3 large lakes with a great variation of greens. It is
planned to be much larger in the near future.
8 - ALICANTE GOLF (Alicante)
Designed by Sevi Ballesteros, Alicante Golf is the an urban golfcourse situated
next to the beaches of Alicante. Although ample, it is full of hazards and
obstacles, designed to test the more precise golfer. The greens are large but
defended by strategically placed bunkers.
9 - BONALBA (Muxtamiel)
The Bonalba Golf Course is to be found on the Sierra of Bonalba that rises above
the Mediterranean Sea from the quaint town of Muxtamiel in Alicante. The
contrast in landscapes and obstacles make this course a challenge but great fun
to play on.
